Imagine your your son starting his day with a game of basketball amongst some of his closest friends

His day continues actively engaged in physical movement and fun challenges to stimulate his mind and body. He is laughing, having fun, and building friendships all while learning how to listen to his thoughts and allow his feelings without judgment. He is maturing as a man as he develops emotional maturity and communication skills all while deepening his relationship with God.

Your son gets all the great benefits of joining a basketball rec league, experiencing life coaching, and engaging in a youth group -- but all during the day in our in our two-day a week program.

This can be your son's reality beginning August 2023.

At Thrive Development Program we use basketball to help your son develop his skillset but also to learn the valuable principles of teamwork, mindset, emotional regulation, and more.

We operate differently to help your child thrive

We strive to help your middle-school age son activate and improve his skills and abilities through athletics, creative engagement, and character development.

Basketball
Training

Every time we gather, your son will engage in two 40 minute basketball games. Sports during adolescent years is a great way to learn leadership skills, camaraderie, maturity, and more.

We also seek out and study the wisdom of sports leaders who inspire and motivate individuals to give their all and evaluate themselves on much more than just the score at the end of the game.

The facility we meet in has an indoor basketball court.

Character Development

We seek out and study the wisdom of sports leaders who inspire and motivate individuals to give their all and evaluate themselves on much more than just the score at the end of the game.

We encourage a drive in every boy we work with. Coaching them to feel fulfilled not in the number of wins, but in how they showed up -- learning to know their abilities, limits, and how to self-motivate and rise to a challenge.

Personal Faith Development

Every participant agrees to engage in Bible Study, prayer, and worship as a part of developing a personal relationship with God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We are purposeful about rooting your child to grow their faith thru Biblical truths so that no matter what life challenges arise, they have a supportive, never-wavering foundation they can trust.

This is a commitment the entire family values and is fully invested in supporting and encouraging.

Learning to thrive in the middle

Your child can begin to feel trapped, misunderstood, and frustrated in this new middle stage of life – between childhood obedience and adult independence.

By developing the awareness and ability to manage their mind, body, and spirit, we believe they can learn to thrive in the middle – not just as an adolescent, but throughout life.

These skills will grow with them throughout life, helping them embrace the middle, between their past experiences and their future aspirations.

Emotional Wellness

Personal Development

Athletics Everyday

The body is the powerhouse for igniting the brain and helping process emotions. When our bodies are in motion we can ignite our endorphins, triggering positive feelings that help reduce pain and helps create a more positive outlook.

This is why your child will engage in at least two sports games of 40 minutes every time they are on site. These games build skill, teamwork, character, leadership, and can replace or supplement the sports leagues your child already participates in.

As an added benefit, physical movement can play a vital role in regulating and enhancing your child's mood. We transform your child's day by including structured athletics and lots of integrated movement in each of our activities.

Why focus on emotional wellness?

When our children develop a solid emotional foundation, they can more easily believe in their own worthiness and feel confident in their ability to accept God's invitation. This is essential for building a strong relationship with Christ that is based on love, trust, and personal connection.

While it's critical to give our children a foundational understanding of scripture and God's love, it's equally important to prioritize emotional wellness and mindset work.

By doing so, we can help our kids develop a strong, loving, and personal relationship with Christ that will carry them through all of life's challenges and triumphs.

Examples of how emotional wellness impacts spiritual and developmental growth:

As your child builds his ability to take personal ownership for his behavior and actions, he will become more aware of how his mindset determines his outcome.

As your child learns how to identify and label his emotions, he can learn how to feel them without judgment. And begin to seek God for support and direction.

As your child matures with more self-awareness, he will be better equipped to regulate his feelings and learn to trust God with "unseen" details of his life.

Daily Schedule

This is overall workflow of our program schedule. Please note: four of the six blocks involve active movement and hands on activity to keep your son stimulated and in action.

Game #1
Hour One

We've seen great evidence of how active movement at the start of the day can help adolescent boys focus and thrive better throughout future tasks -- so we like to begin with the first basketball game and active drills.

Bible Study
Hour Two

We believe a strong foundation for life begins with a personal understanding and relationship with Jesus Christ. Utilizing both group conversations and individual reflection, your son will review Biblical truths every time we gather.

Small Groups
Hour Three

We break down the collective into smaller groups for fun activities and movement based drills. Through these activities your son is learning leadership, teamwork, and more - all while having fun and strengthening friendships.

Lunch Break
Hour Four

Half way through our time we have lunch and free time. Games and other activities are offered to entertain your son, but we also let it be free space so they can relax and be at ease as needed. We also offer catered lunches from local restaurants for a set fee of $32 per month.

Inner Work
Hour Five

One of our foundational goals is helping your son to thrive in life -- which we believe begins with understanding his thoughts and feelings and being able to express them without judgment. We do group activities and reflection time to help him learn how to connect with his inner voice.

Game #2
Hour Six

We wrap up the day with our structured basketball game of the day. We keep score and make a fun challenge out of the game to activate your son's competitive drive. We are here to help him progress in his basketball skills and this is his time to put that to the test with his friends.

Let's do this together

Two years ago God gave me the vision for this program -- specifically to serve middle school age boys. Now as my son approaches this age range, I am grateful to have the pieces come together to launch this program in our community.

As a former college professor and active life coach, I have seen the evidence of lives broken and hurting because the traditional learning models have not worked, because individuals don't understand how they are not their thoughts and feelings, and how lost people feel with no clear compass to guide them.

This program is unique in that it unites all these critical factors in a fun and engaging way, to help our sons build the foundations to thrive both now and in the future.

We're all in with this vision, will you join us?
